Guide to Shopping Small: Frenchie Coffee Roasters

Hello my fellow caffeine fiends!

I am super excited about today’s post because it rolls several of my passions into one: coffee, animals, and supporting small/local business! I would like to introduce you to Frenchie Coffee Roasters – a family owned coffee roaster located in Port Orchard, WA (about 1 hour outside of Seattle, WA)!

Here are a couple of fun facts about the business:

  • It is family owned and run by husband and wife team, Filip and Jessica!
  • They donate a portion of their proceeds to a different animal rescue every month!
  • Their business was named after their two French bulldogs, Sherlock and Phoebe (click here to see the cutest family photo!)
  • They only use organically sourced coffee!

As soon as I received my coffee grounds, I IMMEDIATELY went to my espresso machine and got to work! My first impression was actually on the packaging – the grounds were tightly sealed and opened with a pull tab. The bag has a BUILT IN ziplock to keep your product fresh (see picture below) – not even some of the coffee giants do that for their coffee bags!!!! Plus, let me tell you, the grounds smelled SO GOOD because they were organically sourced and super fresh! I was already impressed and I haven’t even tried it yet!

Picture of the back of the package – I LOVE the note at the top! It shows the business’ passion for what they do.
Look at that rich color! Perfect for my espresso on ice + almond milk!

From the photo above you can see that the espresso in the glass is a dark, rich color and very smooth. When using other grounds commonly found at the grocery store, the espresso comes out more translucent and lightly colored – meaning it will be watery and taste less powerful. I would also like to note that I used the same exact amount of grounds that I normally use, so this is not a result of using more grounds. Therefore, the quality of Frenchie Coffee Roasters is supreme to other typical brands found in a grocery store.

The coffee beans are selected by Frenchie Coffee Roasters personally, which means that we get only the top quality organic beans – making this espresso come out so incredibly smooth and delicious! They are also hand crafted in small batches, each unique in their own way! I have the Peru featured in this post, which has medium body with chocolate and nutty components. They currently have 5 options, or you can just get a variety pack to try them all! You can get any of the options in whole bean or grounds.

I would also like to note that they have the cutest drinkware and gifts available online – many of which feature their furry friends! I definitely need the logo tee and blackout tumbler! You can also support them by purchasing a gift card online for a friend or to use later!
